Chevron
2006
52’H x 30’W x 30’D
Painted Steel
Work was started on Chevron in 2006 spawning a new direction for the colossal slabs in the monumental formations. The two concave shapes are created by the seamless connection of two slabs into one. Facing each-other, the bilateral sections create an intimate inclosure. Balancing on either side are the intersecting tubes projecting with tension and movement. Chevron introduces a new angle in the artist’s lexicon of architectural allusions. The Peninsula Project presents the premiere of Chevron with its installation in Loch Haven Park. The bold blue monument creates a dynamic interplay between the Orlando Museum of Art and Mills Ave. with equally stimulating views from the onlooking gallery space and from the street. The Orlando Museum of Art coordinated with the City of Orlando to display Chevron in Loch Haven Park.
